Phytosanitary Certificates for Export
A phytosanitary certificate verifies agricultural products have been inspected and are pest and disease free (“phyto”meaning “plant” and “sanitary” meaning “clean” or free from pests and diseases).
NDA issues two kinds of phytosanitary certificates. One type of certificate is for domestic plants and plant products that will be exported to foreign countries (link to federal phytosanitary certificate issuance & tracking system found here). The second is for domestic plants and plant products that will be shipped to another state within the United States of America. Phytosanitary certificates cannot be issued if the shipment has already left Nevada. If a certificate is required by the importing county commodities can be detained, refused, or even destroyed at the importing destination if not accompanied by the required certificate.
In addition, NDA offers Certificates of Origin and Certificates of Free Sale. Please contact the export program manager for information regarding these.
