RENO, Nev. -
March 28, 2025Sierra
Arts Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to advocate for arts
and the artists within a 200 mile radius of Reno/Sparks, and the Nevada
Department of Agriculture (NDA), the state regulatory agency for
agriculture and creator of the Nevada Craft Beverage Passport, are partnering
to host Brush & Brew at Parlay 6, a Reno Midtown brewery, on May 10 at 2
p.m. Brush & Brew is a live art competition that brings together local
artists, craft brewers, and art and craft beverage enthusiasts. Attendees will
have the opportunity to collect a participating brewer’s stamp for their Nevada
Craft Beverage Passport while also voting for the winner of the art competition.
The winning artist will receive a portion of the event’s proceeds. Tickets are
$25 and can be purchased online.
The event will feature 12
artists battling in three fast-paced rounds, each tasked with creating original
artwork in just 20 minutes based on a surprise theme. Audience members will
vote to determine the top three artists of each round, with the top
six finalists going head-to-head for ultimate bragging rights—and the potential
opportunity to have their artwork featured at Parlay 6.
The Nevada Craft Beverage
Passport is a collaboration between the NDA and Made In Nevada (MIN), offering
a guide to Nevada’s craft beverage establishments. Passport holders are
encouraged to sample brews, distills, meads and wines at all of the participating
establishments for a stamp and submit passports back to the NDA for prizes.
Prizes start at just 10 stamps, and get bigger with more stamps. The effort is
designed to introduce Nevadans to the craft beverage talent in the state and
encourage support of Nevada’s small businesses.
“Nevada’s craft beverage makers are artists in their own right–combining
and crafting unique flavors reflective of the Silver State,” said NDA Director
J.J. Goicoechea. “Brush & Brew is a great opportunity to support your local
artists and small craft beverage businesses.”
“Brush & Brew is an
exciting blend of Nevada’s vibrant arts and craft beer communities,” said
Tracey Oliver, executive director at Sierra Arts Foundation. “Not only is it a
fun opportunity for artists - and Parlay 6 - to show what they’ve got, it’s an
interactive experience where every attendee has a say in the outcome and a role
in championing local art.”
Tickets include event access,
one craft beer and voting rights. Proceeds from the event will be split, one
half benefiting Sierra Arts Foundation’s work to cultivate opportunities for
artists and the remaining half going to the event winner. Proceeds from the
event will be split between Sierra Arts Foundation to continue to cultivate
opportunities for artists, the Nevada Department of Agriculture to offset costs
for the passports and prizes for passport completion, and the winning artist.
