LAS VEGAS, Nev. -
March 29, 2022Last week Nevada food and beverage businesses met
with international buyers at SIAL America at the Las Vegas Convention Center. With
over 50 years of experience hosting annually across the globe, SIAL is a
comprehensive business to business trade show, covering all food categories including
grocery, food services, distribution and retail. This was the first time SIAL
had been hosted in the U.S. and Las Vegas was selected for the inaugural show.
“Hosting SIAL America’s first show in Nevada offered
business development opportunities for our food and beverage companies in
Nevada and supported our tourism industry, a critical sector of the State’s economy,”
said Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak. “We’d like to thank SIAL for choosing the Silver
State and we look forward to them returning to Nevada in years to come.”
The show opened with remarks from Nevada
Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director Jennifer Ott, among show organizers, noting
the impact and importance of the food, beverage and agriculture industry in
Nevada. The $4.8 billion industry was represented at an NDA booth where Nevada
businesses could network with buyers, suppliers and other businesses. The NDA
coordinated 30 individual meetings between Nevada food and agriculture
businesses and international buyers.
“The meetings and connections companies are making
can have a huge impact on the growth and development of their businesses,
allowing them to enter into new domestic and international markets,” said NDA
Director Ott. “We understand how integral buyer to business connections are,
and we look forward to seeing the positive impacts that come from this.”
Businesses interested in expanding and economic
development are encouraged to contact the NDA to learn more about resources and
upcoming opportunities by emailing NVTrade@agri.nv.gov.
