At their annual meeting in Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 20-24, the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) appointed Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director Jim Barbee as chair of its animal agriculture committee. The committee is charged with overseeing partnerships and policy recommendations related to animal health.

“Animal agriculture is an important economic contributor to our state and one of Nevada’s oldest industries,” Director Barbee said. “I’m honored to lead the committee that will drive the national discussion on animal agriculture and animal health topics.”

The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) promotes a business climate that is fair, economically viable and encourages a sustainable environment that serves to protect food, fiber and human health and safety through effective service and education. NDA includes the divisions of Administration, Animal Industry, Consumer Equitability, Food and Nutrition and Plant Industry.

NASDA grows and enhances agriculture by forging partnerships and creating consensus to achieve sound policy outcomes between state departments of agriculture, the federal government and stakeholders.
