SPARKS, Nev. - April 19, 2016

Proper disposal of waste pesticides and containers is important in protecting surface and ground water from pollution, and the Nevada Department of Agriculture‘s (NDA) environmental services will host a pesticide waste collection event at Rail City Garden Center on Sunday, April 24.

The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1720 Brierley Way in Sparks, provides homeowners, agriculturists, landscapers and other pesticide users an opportunity to safely dispose of pesticide waste, free of charge.

Acceptable products include insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, rodent baits and other pesticides. The following items will not be accepted: batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, degreasers, pesticide rinsate and fertilizers or nutrients that do not contain pesticide active ingredients.

More information about pesticide waste disposal and pesticide container recycling can be found in the Environmental Services section of agri.nv.gov.
