Department of Agriculture hosting organics workshops in February and March

SPARKS, Nev. -- The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) has updated its organic program forms for the state’s organic producers and handlers and is hosting statewide workshops about the new changes.

All NDA organic certified operations are required to use new forms starting with the 2015 renewals due March 31, 2015.

“We are holding workshops to introduce the new changes to current and future organic operations,” said Lindsay Dixon, NDA’s organic program manager. “The new forms are all inclusive farming or handling plans changed to a more user-friendly format to better serve as living documents and to stay current with on-farm practices.”

During the workshops, NDA will explain the new forms, discuss how to complete them (electronically and manually) and answer questions. There is no charge for the workshops, and the workshops are not mandatory.

Registration must be made no later than ONE WEEK PRIOR to the workshop. Contact Lindsay Dixon for questions and to register: 775-353-3623 or ldixon@agri.nv.gov.
