Starting a Craft Foods Operation

Apply to become an operator

To obtain a permit to sell craft food items, an application must be submitted, and the applicant must pass an examination demonstrating the knowledge needed to process canned food safely. Once the exam is passed, a craft food permit provides registration for 3 years. See below for testing and application fees. Fees must be submitted with the application.

Application and Testing Fees

• Testing Fee: $30
• Application Fee: $50

Testing locations

There are three testing locations in Nevada: Sparks, Elko and Las Vegas. Once you have read the study guides and are prepared for the examination, contact one of the locations listed to schedule an exam date and time.
