Governor’s Conference on Agriculture to feature speakers from Nevada and beyond representing contemporary food and agriculture industry topics

The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) will host the 2018 Governor’s Conference on Agriculture on Friday, April 27 in Las Vegas. The conference will feature panelist speakers from throughout Nevada and beyond covering topics of interest to Nevada food and agriculture industries, including workforce development, business development, food safety, industrial hemp and more. The conference will also feature locally-sourced food from Bently Ranch, Anderson Dairy and Great Harvest Bread Company.

Speakers include Nancy Trivette from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture and Jim Panatelo, indoor agriculture expert from Las Vegas based Oasis Biotech. Trivette, who will speak about how agribusinesses can attract a talented workforce, is the New Jersey program leader for the Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Education program and president-elect for the Association of Career and Technical Education. Panatelo will provide insight about indoor farming and vertical growing.

“We’re excited to host a conference that will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear from and network with industry professionals who have diverse backgrounds and experiences,” said NDA Director Jim Barbee. “By providing varying professional perspectives, we hope to bring people together and ensure attendees get the best possible information.”
