June 04, 2020The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) seeks partners to address food insecurity and food distribution needs during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Nevada community organizations and public entities are encouraged to submit project applications that use innovative distribution models, complement existing food assistance resources, promote safe food assistance during the pandemic, provide food to underserved and/or vulnerable populations, and develop lasting partnerships
Funding applications are due to the NDA via email on June 17, 2020, and the request for applications (RFA) is online.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides funding to states to address the various impacts of the pandemic. There is $2.88 million set aside specifically to support community food response projects that address food insecurity throughout Nevada.
“We are committed to addressing food insecurity in Nevada and encourage any nonprofit community organization or public entity that addresses hunger to submit a project proposal and start increasing service to underserved Nevadans as early as July 1,” NDA Director Jennifer Ott said. “This grant does not include a funding match requirement, so nonprofit organizations of all sizes are eligible to apply.”
Applications must be submitted to the NDA via email by 5 p.m. on June 17, 2020, and the anticipated award start date is July 1, 2020. Full application requirements, including a scoring rubric and federal Coronavirus Relief Fund guidance, can be found online.
