Bureau
of Petroleum Technology
The Petroleum Technology Bureau serves to ensure that all consumers in
Nevada have quality fuel while maintaining or improving current levels
of air quality. The bureau is authorized Nevada
Revised Statutes, Section 590.
The bureau ensures that appropriate and timely action is taken in
cases of violations. The bureau makes every effort to coordinate Nevada
fuel standards policies between all federal, state and local authorities
and will standardize fuel regulations, as much as possible, between
states.
The functions of
the bureau are as follows:
Ensure
that fuel meets appropriate standards to minimize air pollution.
Ensure
fuel quality for the proper operation and protection of vehicles.
To
be a valuable technical resource for regulators, oil and automobile
industries and the public by becoming the foremost authority on motor
fuels in Nevada.
Become
a clearinghouse for fuel laws and regulations statewide.
Remain
the center for Nevada fuel parameters data collection, storage and
interpretation.
